Some Easy Workouts in a Pinch For When You Don't Have Time To Really Sweat It Out

9/18/2016

Because you gotta stay fit...and you gotta get up for school tomorrow morning.

School is a pretty tough thing to juggle with literally anything else...especially when you have 10 periods a day AND have 3 hours of traveling. Normally I work out 5/6 days a week, but when I have 5 tests in 1 week, my workouts become very short and hard to even complete. These videos are really great for when you want to squeeze a little toning into your day or actually need a few minutes to relieve yours stress (like me). There is no such thing as a quick fix, but these will sure help get yourself into shape. Plus, they're kind of fun!

1. 10 Minute Abs with Rebecca-Louise

I try to do this one every other day and it's really good for working your lower abs. I did it for 2 weeks straight everyday and I really saw the difference it made. I would also recommend this channels thigh workout, Olivia Wilde workout and their million calorie workout. XHit also has a whole Victoria Secret series which will be sure to make your but hurt.

2. The Fitness Marshal

This man makes squeezing in your cardio so much entertaining. I love to dance and he's combinations are so fun. My sister and I do them together and usually end up laughing. You do not ave to be an actual dancer to do these, you just gotta move! I would also recommend his videos to Cheap Thrills, Dessert, Cold Water and Or Nah.

3. Extreme Abs by Blogilates

If you want instant soreness, this the way to get it. Though sometimes I get a little irritated by her voice in this, it really does work very quickly. I would recommend having a look at all of her videos, she has one for everything!

Of course getting into shape doesn't just mean working out but these workouts will really help. They're also ALL under 20 minutes!
So...what's your excuse now?😏

Kanye West.

For my birthday I got two tickets to the Kanye West concert at MSG with my sister and I was so surprised. The day finally came and I was so excited. My sister and I we're practically shaking. We went, got merchandise in a crazy crowd, and enjoyed one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The stage is in the air and moves around the Garden, so you really could see him from anywhere. Kanye West's performing was unbelievable and he surprisingly didn't rant or really talk at much at all. He was non stop and he was great. It was one of those concerts that you could tell took an incredibly long to design. Between the crazy lighting design and the stage, it was one of those shows that you could enjoy even if you didn't like Kanye West. My favorite songs that he performed were Waves, Stronger,  Famous and Runaway. (Those aren't my favorite songs of him in general, those are just the ones I thought he performed the best). I have literally never seen a crowd so hype before, people were jumping on top of each other and dancing like crazy. The show ended with Ultralight Beam and it was basically the most dramatic exit I had ever seen (You can see it at the end of the video). Everyone thought Chance the Rapper was younger to come out and I literally didn't leave because even when Kanye left, I still didn't think it was over. (A lot of people stayed). The show was pretty short and he started an hour and a half late (no opening act), but it was so worth it. This is a concert I would go to again in a heart beat and a night I'll never forget.

Starting Sophomore Year

9/12/2016

So this week is my first full week of sophomore year and it's going pretty well. This year I'm taking AP Global and the work is already so hard. I'm also taking music theory which does not come naturally at all. Last year I struggled with sight singing, and this year is even harder but it does help me with understanding what I sing even more and writing music. Anyway, I didn't realize being a sophomore would feel so different than being a freshman like I was just about 3 months ago. My teachers are so much harder on me, I guess because we're not getting used to the school. I'm also treated with a lot more respect from the upperclassmen which is nice. Last year I made a lot of friends with people that we're older than me, but for some reason, I can't picture myself being friends with one of the freshmen! It's so weird! Another change this year, is that I have to wake up a lot earlier (5).  I don't mind it as much as I did though, and I kind of like watching the sun rise on the ferry. So these were just some of the new things that have been going on, just to update you! To any sophomores reading, how do you feel about the freshmen? Do they look scared? Do you enjoy them looking scared? Comment below!

Some of my Favorite Outfits From September

9/2/2016

September is one of those months that can sometimes be warm enough to not wear a jacket but not warm enough to go full summer attire, at least in New York City. We were lucky enough to get some warm days most of the time, so here are some of my outfits I wore! (I decided to do a month outfit post instead of the #OOTW I did last year).
Picture
This shirt is actually a dress from Brandy Melville but I am not a model and I don't wear dresses that barely cover anything, so I unbuttoned most of it and turned it into a flow shirt!

Is it a shirt or a dress??!!!???!!!?!?! (I literally got that all day )

Picture
This is just my favorite paisly shirt from some boutique I forgot the name of...but I know the jeans are from Abercrombie!
Picture
This candid is so funny to me. It kind of looks like I'm in Italy. This is actually one of my favorite dresses! I got it in a boutique on the jersey shore (if you live in the tri-state area, you should go and check out all of the cute shops!). The shoes are from Urban Outfitters.

Judging by this first week of October, it seems that my next 'Favorite Outfits of the Month' will be much heavier:( Boots already???????

Going to the 2016 VMA's!

The most fun I've had in an award show.

Picture
Sunday night was the Mtv VMA's and I was there with my mom, sister and friend, Sophia! If you watched the show live you knew that it was basically a Rhianna and Beyonce concert with a few awards and words from Kanye West thrown in there. However, here's what my point of view was from being in the room:
So my lil squad and I all dressed in black because what else is more chic? The photos are endless, and I spent so much time getting ready that you would've thought I was walking the red carpet. (Although this year it was white? Who thought that was a good idea?). My sister and I had seats right in front of my favorite comedian double: Key and Peele. (WATCH KEANU). That was honestly what I was most excited about. Until BEYONCÉ performed literally right in front of me. My sister and I were in awe of the Queen Bee. Like her or not, it was one hell of a performance and she looked like she needed a nap when she was done. (Is there a rule on doing the halftime show more than once? Can we break it?). Rhianna was really spectacular and surprised me with her great vocals. (Her dancers were on point by the way). My sister and I were sitting by where the celebrities exited and here are some things I noticed:
1. Nick Jonas almost fell down the stairs while texting, and then proceeded to give his number (still holding up the stairs) to Troye Sivan).
2. Amber Rose took a pause to slow down and do a princess wave to literally one guy who actually knew what she was famous for. (Oh and of course with a blunt in her hand).
3. Ariana Grande and Mac Miller left in the beginning of Rhianna's last performance.
4. Jaden Smith would not stop getting in literally everyone's way and bounced around like a 5 year old.
5. This one is just random. Why was Hailey Steinfield all of a sudden talking with a THICK Brooklyn accent?
6. Chance The Rapper literally seems like the most fun person to be friends with.

Down below you can see a clip of my favorite moments AND my snap chats story from that night. Enjoy!

A Summer City Day: Interactive Art, The Best Burger in Town and just the Right Food to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth.

Hey guys! So summers are great for relaxing in the pool and going to the beach, but you've just got to plan some city days, to do all the fun stuff you don't normally get to do. On Monday, I think I had an all around perfect city day with my friends Sydney, Victoria and Lauren.
First we went to the Cooper Hewitt museum. Sydney really wanted to go but she said it was hard to get to, but there's no reason you should get lost if you have an iPhone! (Not that I don't get lost...). We hopped on the 4 train at Bowling Green and took it all the way to the upper east side. The museum is a bit of a walk from the train, but we all enjoyed getting those steps in on our FitBit's! As we checked into the museum we received, big "pens", that we used for the interactive parts of the museum, like the Pixar studio and the room where you can project your design. My favorite thing about using the pens was that you could click it on the summarys/captions (I don't know what they're called, but you know what I mean) under each piece of art, save it to the pen and then use a code you got with your ticket and read the things you saved online. You can also save everything you designed on the pen. Here are some of the things that my friends and I designed:

Overall, this museum was quite unique and had very different pieces from all different time periods.
I would go back, but with someone who hasn't been before. Also, I would love to see the 3rd floor, which was closed when we went. It's worth going just to see the home it inhabits, (it's was an old mansion). The museum is small, and I think we only spent 2 hours there in total. The gardens were lots of fun too, with the spiny chairs (you had to be there).

After the museum we were on a hunger fueled mission to go to JG Melons, the restaurant which many stars (most notably Gigi Hadid) claim to have the best burger in New York City. I'm a girl who LOVES a good burger and I usually have my best at PJ Clarkes or The Smith (Five Napkin used to be my favorite, but I've moved on). So we got a little bit lost and did a whole lot of walking (SO MUCH WALKING) until we finally found it! I was surprised that the cute little restaurant wasn't packed and that we had no wait! ( P.S. JG Melons is mildly expensive, but less than the two places I just named). Our food came super quick (I was about to eat one of my friends), and Gigi was right: the burger was out of this world. It kind of just melted in my mouth and it really didn't need ketchup at all. My friends all felt the same. JG Melons was worth my feet hurting and gets my stamp of approval, for sure.
Picture
After this we all had a sweet tooth and went on the hunt for ice cream. That's when we found (only a block away) I•CE•NY. They have the ice cream that they roll in front of you (I think it's a Thai thing). We all loved it. You can really taste how fresh it is. None of the ice creams are one flavor and you can taste each one when you get it. 10Below (A more famous rolling-of-the ice cream-place) is harder to get to and more packed in my opinion, so I would stop here if you a craving a new dessert experience.

If you are a foodie like me, the combination of these two places put me in a happy mood like no other (oh, and maybe it had to do with the people I was with). It's hard to find friends who want to try new things and who want to be constantly cultured and I am so grateful to have them want to adventure with me. Great friends, great art and great food...what could be better?

My 1 Year Blogaversary!

8/24/2016

Hey everyone, I have a big announcement! Monday was my one-year-blog-a-versary! The time has seriously flown by and it seems like just yesterday I was taking photos for my contact page and uploading my first post of my best friend and I singing. This blog has been more important to me than you even know; being that it was an outlet to tell people about my experiences, my struggles, my advice and my opinions. I started with only two views a week (my mom and I), and now my highest number of people viewing my site was 700 views a week. Thank you to everyone who has clicked on my link or commented on a post or texted me that they liked what I wrote. It's you who makes me feel like my voice is being heard, and it's you all who are slowly building a community on this website. So here is to another year of you hearing my thoughts; from my laptop to yours.
P.s. and I would love to hear yours:)
Thank you, thank you and thank you.
All the love always.

'Project Brunch' Restaurant Review

8/18/2016

Picture
Yesterday I went to the very popular restaurant, Project Brunch. The Staten Island-famous place is known for their s'mores milkshakes and extravagant breakfast dishes. I went with the booty toes (refer to early blog posts). If you go, I suggest getting there early because there was a 25 minute wait when we went (at 10). I ordered the Project B.E.C, which is a bacon egg and cheese in between two waffles. I kind of liked it, but I felt like I was tasting too many things at once. There also wasn't enough bacon or egg (mostly cheese). I think if I go again I'll split something their famous for like the s'mores waffle or the chocolate explosion pancake. Also, the lunch menu (Project LUNCH?) looked pretty appetizing.
Overall, I would try it again, but I would rate it a 6.5/10. Although, the food is very pretty for photos!

(Not) Alone at the Drive-In Movies

Staten Island is not always boring.

Picture
If you are reading this and you live on Staten Island, you totally understand the struggle of running out of things to do. If you are not from Staten Island, than your probably thinking that you would never have any reason to go there, other than visiting someone. But I'm determined to try to find fun things to do in my borough, and here's one that's fun for everyone: a drive-in movie! This was a five day event in Richmond Town. If you have never been to Richmond Town, it has lots of history and is quite lovely. We went and watched 'The Godfather' on one of the hottest days of the summer. The event had food trucks and in door bathrooms (thank God). Jade and I saw a man with a really cool car, and he was nice enough to let us sit in it! It felt like we were in Grease!

To top the night off we saw a rainbow on this beautiful summer day! I recommend doing this next year with your family or friends!

One SWEET 15th Birthday

A delicious birthday surprise.

Picture
Hey everyone! Yesterday was my 15th birthday and before I tell you about it, I just want to thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday! Anyway, yesterday my plans were to go to my favorite restaurant, Carmine's (West 44th & Broadway), with just a few of my closest friends and family. After dinner, we were going to the IMax to see Suicide Squad. We had an awesome dinner as usual where I hard core indulged in chicken parm and cake. My mom then gave me a cute card which said "no movies for you! Haha!". The card had tickets to "Waitress" the musical! I didn't realize that they said for August 10th! And there were 6 of them! We were going tonight! I've been listening to the sound track for a few months and I've wanted to see it so bad! I still didn't believe it even when we were walking there!
Picture
We got in the show and it actually smelt like apple pie (no joke, we think it's how they get you to buy their "pies-in-a-can". The show was not as ridiculously cheesy as a thought it was, and of course the singing was very good. The show was very witty (SO MANY PIE JOKES) and the second act made me a bit choked up. I was very impressed with not just Jessie Mueller (fabulous) but also the whole cast equally made the show great. Overall, we were all very impressed and I would totally recommend seeing it. I would actually love to see it again.
I am so gratful to have such a great mom who will always go above and beyond to make me happy. I am also grateful for my friends who always come for the ride. ;)
Also, happy birthday to everyone else who's birthday was yesterday! Haha, it seems like the most common in the world!
